Mind Shifting

Written by: Alana

“Finally, my brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8

Sometimes our mind wonders and ponders on lust, gossiping, cheating, lying, stealing, and anything else that is unlike God. We often think that if we just think about it, and not act upon it, then we’re “Okay.” However, the Lord says manifest on things that are noble. Someone once told me your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions then become your character, and your character becomes your destiny. When our minds shift to things unlike God we have no peace in our lives; remember sin first manifest in the mind.

The secret to a joyful heart is filling our minds with thoughts that are noble, just, pure, lovely, thoughts that dwell on good things in life. {Proverbs 15:15 –“All the days of the afflicted are evil, But he who is of merry heart has a continued feast}. When we are feeling anxious about paying a bill, finding a spouse, getting into school/paying for school, receiving that dream job, or getting started on that business, we have to remember to shift our minds on the goodness of God. There is no peace in worrying.

The peace of God is different than worldly peace. Strive for God’s peace. Ask God to bring peace in your life not only through the storm, but in the sunshine as well. Often times we depend on God when things are not going our way, we often lean and depend on God to help us when we are in pain (Which is great), but then we forget about Him when He answers those prayers; when your life seems to be on the ups, we lose sight of that daily time we spent in the hardship. God’s peace is everlasting, and strengthens you for greater. Remember to shift your mind on things that are of God, and you will witness peace over any circumstances that come your way.
